Product Overview
The LS03-13BxxR3 series is one of MORNSUN's highly efficient green power AC-DC converter series. They feature a wide input range accepting either AC or DC voltage, high reliability, low power consumption, and reinforced isolation. All models are particularly suitable for industrial control, electric power, instrumentation, and smart home applications which have high requirements for compact dimensions and do not have stringent EMC requirements. For extremely harsh EMC environments, it is recommended to use the application circuit shown in the Design Reference section of this datasheet.

  • LS03-13B05R3: Output Power: 3W; Nominal Output: 5V / 600mA; Typical Efficiency at 230VAC: 72%; Maximum Capacitive Load: 680 uF.
  • LS03-13B09R3: Output Power: 3W; Nominal Output: 9V / 333mA; Typical Efficiency at 230VAC: 76%; Maximum Capacitive Load: 470 uF.
  • LS03-13B12R3: Output Power: 3W; Nominal Output: 12V / 250mA; Typical Efficiency at 230VAC: 77%; Maximum Capacitive Load: 470 uF.
  • LS03-13B15R3: Output Power: 3W; Nominal Output: 15V / 200mA; Typical Efficiency at 230VAC: 78%; Maximum Capacitive Load: 330 uF.
  • LS03-13B24R3: Output Power: 3W; Nominal Output: 24V / 125mA; Typical Efficiency at 230VAC: 80%; Maximum Capacitive Load: 200 uF.

Notes:

  1. The nominal output voltage refers to the voltage applied to the load terminal after adding external circuits.
  2. If the product is used in a severe vibration application, it needs to be glued and fixed.

EMC Performance & Design Reference
EMC Performance: The product's emissions and immunity performance depends on the selected external application circuit.

  • Emissions: Can achieve CISPR32/EN55032 Class A (using Application Circuit 1 or 4) or Class B (using Application Circuit 2 or 3) for both Conducted (CE) and Radiated (RE) Emissions.
  • Immunity: Complies with IEC/EN61000-4-2 (ESD, ±6kV Contact, Criteria B), -4-3 (RS, 10V/m, Criteria A), -4-4 (EFT, ±2kV or ±4kV depending on circuit, Criteria B), -4-5 (Surge, ±1kV or ±2kV depending on circuit, Criteria B), -4-6 (CS, 10V, Criteria A), and -4-11 (Voltage dips, Criteria B).

Application Circuits & Component Selection:
The datasheet provides four recommended application circuits tailored for different environments and EMC requirements (Basic, Indoor Civil, Indoor Industrial, Outdoor General). Each circuit specifies required external components (FUSE, R1, LDM, CX, C1, C2, L1, C3, C4, CY, TVS) with detailed values and selection notes. For example:

  • Basic Application (Circuit 1): For -40°C to +85°C, Immunity Level 3, Emissions Class A. Requires FUSE (1A/300V), wire-wound resistor R1 (12Ω/3W), and inductor LDM (1.2mH).
  • Component Note: C1 is a required input filter capacitor. C3 is recommended to be a low-ESR electrolytic capacitor. A TVS diode (rated 1.2 times the output voltage) is recommended for protection.

Characteristic Curves & Notes:
The product includes Temperature Derating and Input Voltage Derating curves. Please note:

  1. For AC input between 85-100VAC/277-305VAC or DC input between 70-120VDC/390-430VDC, output power must be derated according to the temperature derating curves.
  2. Suitable for natural air cooling; for closed environments, consult MORNSUN FAE.
